In a move to secure Nigeria’s digital future, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) have formalized a strategic partnership aimed at embedding digital literacy into the foundational level of Nigerian education.
The collaboration, led by NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa and UBEC Executive Secretary Dr. Aisha Mahmood Garba, focuses on bridging the digital divide for the millions of students in the basic education system.

A critical component of this data-driven strategy is the activation of over 1,500 existing digital hubs nationwide.
- Rural Connectivity: Dr. Garba emphasized that the joint effort is specifically designed to ensure children in rural and underserved communities—particularly in regions like Northern Nigeria—are not left behind.
- Curriculum Harmonization: The agencies are working to unify existing frameworks into a single national curriculum. This ensures that a student in Kano receives the same quality of digital training as one in Lagos or Abuja.
