Doma United intensified their position at the top of the EUROMATCH Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) standings after seeing off nine-time winners Enyimba at the Pantami Stadium on Saturday.

‎The Savannah Tigers scored a goal in each half through Sadiq Rilwan and Fantami Yusuf to cement a two-goal win over Enyimba and keep their place at the summit.

‎The People’s Elephant had the first sight of goal in the opening moments when James Johna directed his headed attempt over the bar off Peculiar Iheme’s long throw-in.

‎In quick succession, Enyimba goalkeeper Godswill Utum had to make big saves to keep the score goalless as Doma United began to grow into the match.

‎It did not take long before Rilwan fired Doma United in front on 32 minutes to take his tally for the season to three goals.

‎Enyimba came close to levelling the score in added time before the break. Wonah Williams could not get on the end of Samuel Anakwe’s pass allowing Bitrus Phillips to clear the lines for the home side.

‎However, it was Doma United that doubled their lead through substitute, Fantami Yusuf who needed only 18 minutes to make an impact after coming off the bench.

‎Enyimba then threw everything at the home team in the final 14 minutes with their head coach Emmanuel Deutsch introducing Stanley Dimgba and Ifeanyi Ihemekwele for Johna and Tobi Iyanda in a bid to salvage something from the contest.

Charles Egbe nearly pulled one back for Enyimba but Pius Ibrahim made a timely save to deny him from getting the goal.

‎Doma United have now won their opening three matches and have a five-point lead at the top over the chasing pack who will be on duty on Sunday when six matches will take place.
